Filipinos 4 Palestine Printmaking Day

Spudnik Press invites our community and warmly welcomes Chicago Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines, Malaya Chicago, and Anakbayan Chicago into the studio for a family printmaking event that is open to the public on Sunday, May 19th from 2pm-5pm.

Join Filipinos 4 Palestine for a printmaking art build to support Palestinian and Filipino movements for liberation. Our guest organizations/communities have prepared activities for young children, a teach-in featuring local organizers, and art sessions including screenprinting, zinemaking, block printing, and more.

Event Schedule:

2:00pm to 3:30pm | Story time and kids’ open studio (families with children ages 0-12): 

To explore the connections between Palestine and the Philippines, members of our guest communities will read stories by Palestinian and Filipino authors, sing songs, learn chants, and make art to take to the streets. Art activities will include screenprinting, zinemaking, and more. Guests are welcome to bring their own tote bags or t-shirts to screenprint.

3:30pm to 5:00pm | Teach-in and open studio (all ages):

There will be a teach-in session for folks of all ages that covers the Palestinian and Filipino liberation struggles at the Annex area of Spudnik Press. Guests of all ages can also engage in creative printmaking session in the studio, including block printing, screenprinting, and more.

COVID Safety: 
  • Masks required except for those under 2 years old or otherwise unable to stay masked.
  • Masks of different sizes will be provided by F4P.
  • We ask everyone who can to please stay masked in the event space. 
  • Spudnik Press has multiple air purifiers running throughout the studio.

Filipinos for Palestine (F4P) is a network of U.S.-based Filipinos in solidarity for a free Palestine. 

Anakbayan Chicago is a Filipino youth and student organization fighting for genuine liberation and democracy in the Philippines.

Chicago Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines promotes, defends and advocates for human rights and liberation in the Philippines. 

Malaya Chicago is a broad movement of individuals, organizations, and various formations united under our objectives to defend human rights, democracy, and sovereignty in the Philippines.
